Out of Town.....

I made it safely out of town.  I was asked to help out for a couple days with this "new" program that's almost a year and a half old.  Problem is, no one knows how to use it except me, and only because I taught myself through trial and error.

The other problem...Corporate doesn't even know how it works, so they can't train anyone.  So they recruit me.

I love my job.

Are you serious....

I'm on lunch.  I started a post this morning but saved it to draft and now I can't edit it.  I'll try when I get home.

In the meantime, I decided to cruise through Facebook to see what's happening.

Now, anyone who knows me, knows I'm a huge animal lover.  I've worked in several animal fields over the last few decades, so when I see about pets, naturally I'll stop and read it.

The post said something to the effect of "weigh in...should it be legal to break a car window to save a pet in distress."  I noticed that a friend of mine replied to the post and I wanted to read her response as well as see what she thought.

My answer to the OP is yes.  It should be legal.  And even it isn't, I'm not about to let YOUR dog die in YOUR car because you're too much of an idiot to leave your pet at home.  Sorry, not sorry.  I'll not stand idly by and watch your, dare I say, beloved dog die.

Back to my reason behind this post.  I scrolled through the comments, and there were only a handful, until I got to my friend's reply.  I have to tell ya, I don't know if I was in shock or what.  But her response left me somewhere between disbelief and genuine confusion.

My friend's response....."Yes it should.  They are human too........"

I don't even remember what else she said.  But I think it's time to clean out the friend's like.

Oh...and someone give that girl her sign.

The older I get.....

I'd like to think that the older I get the more mature I become.  I'm not sure if this is true, but I think I'm definitely becoming more domesticated.  Okay, so I didn't cook dinner.  BIG DEAL!  Who says you have to cook dinner every night to be domesticated?  Exactly.  No one!

The bed is made.  The house is clean.  The cats are fed.  Laundry is in the wash.  That's a lot.  For me anyway.  I procrastinate.  Always have.  I'm hoping to change that now that I'm getting older.  I've impressed both my parents, and that is a beginning.

I'm still trying to decide which way this blog is going.  Maybe I'm over thinking it.  I mean, Texas started a blog and he already knows what he wants his to be about or, at the very least, the writing style he's planning on using.  This is my little piece of uncontrolled chaos, I guess.  I'm not that quick to make decisions about things like this.  At work, I'm much more organized, almost to the point of being OCD about things.  At home...not so much.

Anyway, it is, without a doubt, time for a change in my life.  And it's coming.  Texas will be moving up here in...dun, dun, duuuun...51 days!  I'll finally him here to share my life with after all this time alone.  And that's huge!  It's exhilarating and, dare I say, scary as hell.  But it will be good for both of us in many different ways.  We're good for each other, and so far, good together.  Here's hoping that things don't change once he gets home.

The thing about Texas that's so amazing is how supportive he is.  About everything.  Even my need to diet when he thinks I'm perfect the way I am.  See...I'm the "Fat Kid."  And even if I'm not, I'm always going to think that I am, regardless of whatever anyone else says.  That's how it has always been for as long as I can remember.  Like many American women, I have an issue with my body image.  To put it simply...I am not in love with my body.  I can't say I hate it, but I can certainly say that I feel uncomfortable as hell in my own skin.  And that's a big thing for me to admit.  But that's how it is.  Fortunately, Texas is slowly breaking me of this negative image I have of myself.  And he's doing it by reminding me daily how beautiful and gorgeous I am.  Even when I don't see it.  That is one of the many things I love about him.

Too lazy to cook.....

I'm sitting in the foyer of one of the local chain restaurants because, quite frankly, I'm too lazy to go home and cook.  And because it is so hot and humid outside I'd rather not have to turn a stove on at home.

I feel bad, to some extent, because I just made the poor girl at the take out counter change my order four times.  I'm hungry.  And my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach right now.  After about 10 minutes I decided on a salad.  Surprise.

Working in a man's world.....

I happen to be a woman who works on a man's world.  A little cliche, but very true.  The group of us consist of 13 diesel mechanics, 2 welders, a gopher (he literally does anything the boss asks), and me.  It's quite the cast of characters.  And each one has their own nickname.  I may have to start a "Cast of Characters" to keep them all straight.

Some of my guys I get along great with.  Some...not so much.  I'm sure I'll get into detail in later posts.

I love my job.  I do.  Honestly.  Most of the time, anyway.  Usually when I can actually -do- my job.  I do everyone else's job most of the day.  Right now it's quieter, being summer.  So I'm pretty much caught up on almost everything I need to get done.

And I'm at work now.  Punched in 15 minutes ago and I'm sitting in the breakroom, blogging, listening to The Giant talk about the Presidential elections.  I'm not really paying attention.  I normally don't.  But it's time to get to work.

Sometimes I'm lost.....

I don't always know what to blog about.  I'm not even sure why I do at all.  Guess there could be a whole slew of reasons.  Some people blog to convey information.  Some blog reviews.  Some blog videos, although I think that's Vlogging, isn't it?  Me...I do it to pass times, I suppose.

I still haven't even figured out what the purpose of -this- blog is, really.  But...reading back through some of my older blogs, it's nice to kind of have that diary-not-diary type stuff to read about.

I've done most of my blogging from my android, but after having read over my last post during lunch, I think I'll have to change that.  Too many typos and I have no clue how to edit it from the phone.  Maybe I ought to invest in a tablet.  Maybe.  But probably not.

I also sometimes like to post photos to my blog.  So...gotta learn how to do that as well.  I know Texas is laughing as he reads this, so, maybe when he gets home, he'll help me figure it out if I haven't already.

Thankfully, he just pointed out a couple typos.  Thanks, Texas!  Punk!

This weekend....

This weekend was pretty normal, for the most part.
I had purchased a new pub table a few weeks back and, after having to wait 3 weeks, it was finally delivered on Saturday.  I absolutely love it!

The new Pub Table
I typically visit my parents on Saturdays, but had to stay home because of the delivery.  Instead, my mother came over while I waited.  This way, she was able to see the pub set and we got to have some mother/daughter time.
My mother wanted to try on a couple of my dresses, since she has a wedding to go to next weekend.  I never would have imagined my mom coming to me for a dress.  I grew up a tomboy and whenever I had to dress up, I had to run to mom.  So, the role reversal was a little odd, but in a wonderful way.
We also discussed Texas.  I'm so excited to have him move here, and a little nervous, which I touched on previously.  But I want to do this right.  So mom and I talked about some things I was worrying about, mainly finances.  I don't want mine to change, I want to continue being comfortable.  And I want us to not have to live paycheck to paycheck.  I don't and I don't want to.
My mother ended up leaving around 1:00 and I tried to catch up on some of my shows.  Texas called later on that evening, but I didn't have an opportunity to speak to him.  My mom returned, with my dad, to bring back my dresses, she opted to wear one of her own, and so that my dad could see the new pub set.  I think mom also wanted dad to see my apartment, quite possibly because it was freshly cleaned...and I mean spotless.  I think she might have been a bit jealous.

Girly nails
Sunday was manicure day; I went totally girly.  (Picture to follow.)  I also went to see the Minion movie with one of the girls I see on nail day.  It was so much fun, and the movie was hysterical.  A little expensive, but so worth it to just have a -fun- time.  All in all, it cost $19.50 for a movie ticket, a large popcorn and a large pink lemonade.
I'm thinking of going to the movies now maybe once a week.  So long as there's something I want to see playing.

I'm sitting here.....

I'm sitting here in my pajamas, which consist of a t-shirt and shorts, with a mud mask on my face, as I blog this morning.  It's kind of late, especially for me, seeing as I'm usually up before the roosters would crow.  But it's Sunday.

Sunday is always a pretty lazy day, except today is manicure day, and that typically takes a couple hours.  I do have a little bit of shopping to do as well.  My new pub table was delivered yesterday and I needed to find something as a centerpiece.  I found a cute little lantern, but I need batteries for it, so that's the main goal.  Size D batteries.

In 53 days, Texas will be home.  And while I'm looking forward to it, I'm also a little nervous.  I've lived alone for just over 3 years, and this will be a new challenge for me.  I know that we get along extremely well, but it's still going to be a big adjustment.  We'll be fine.  And it will be nice to finally be able to give him a hug.

My life has changed.....

My life has changed so dramatically over the course of the last 5 years.  I don't even know where to begin, so I suppose I'll throw some of the past in with the present until I get all caught up.
I was married in 2007 for the first time to a man who was 13 years older than me.  He was the love of my life.  We dated 4 1/2 years before we tied the knot.
We did not have the perfect marriage by any means.  We argued a lot...mostly about little, meaningless stuff.  The problem with us...we were too much alike.  Thick-headed and stubborn.  Our marriage fell apart 3 years later and we separated.
I lived with friends for the next year, barely speaking to my husband toward the end of that year.  That was when I started looking into divorce.  And I started a new relationship with an awesome guy.
That was when my husband called and asked to see me.  He didn't know anything about my looking into divorce or seeing someone else.  And I didn't have the slightest clue why he wanted to see me.
But my world was definitely going to change way more than I could have ever imagined.

The Journey Begins

Tonight is the start of a new journey for me.  A new beginning of sorts.  Okay, just a new blog.  But it's still a beginning.

I've been meaning to start a new blog for a while now, and here it is.  I can't be sure where it's going to go from here, but we'll see.
